Star wars force unleashed 2 demo impression

As a star wars fan, I really enjoyed the first game so much so that I still find myself playing the original from time to time, even though some of Starkillers moves where a bit choppy it still made for some of the best star wars gaming available on current consoles.

( Lucas arts, get to work on that x-wing vs tie fighter for Ps3 pronto. )

Well I'm pleased to report that it looks like Vader's secret apprentice has been training in-between games with Kratos cause the kid is swift! Dual lightsabers moving with enough speed and grace to make the god of war himself green with envy. he also borrowed the "rage gauge" from Kratos, string together attacks and you gauge slowly fills, once filled click down on your L3 & R3 buttons and you can dole out insane combo moves at twice the speed.

The new Jedi mind trick move is awesome, sending hapless weak minded fools leaping to their death. I'm told that once upgraded this new ability will allow you to actually turn stormtroopers against each other but this feature was not available in the demo.

I was able to fight a carbonite spewing battle droid trying to bring me in alive, force grabbing plums of the substance and hurl it back at the droid, freeze it and take it apart with a variety of force powers.

If the demo is any indication this one's a winner, my only concern is the amount of levels and the games length but that I'll save for the review.

here's footage of the demo in action available now on xbox 360 and ps3!

NETFLIX INSTANT REVIEWS: STAR TREK SEASON 1

With Netflix now streaming on 2 out of 3 major consoles, I wanted to share some of my favorite movies, anime series and TV shows available for instant steaming on the service right now.

Star Trek Season 1 in HD is worth checking out. The episodes have never looked better, updated special effects that blend in seamlessly to the original footage and Ricardo Montalban as Khan in Space Seed!

KHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAN!

Even if you've been in a cave for the last 40 years or are to young to remember the original series and enjoyed the J.J. Abrams movie, give the original that inspired it all a shot.

IL*2 Stromovich: Birds of prey PS3 & 360

I've been playing the IL*2 Demo for about a day now and if you have a the slightest need to dogfight over a WW2 theater of war, this is your game.

I advise people to download the demo and give a go ( the demo on the PS3 has 3 full missions to tackle and 2 difficulty levels each to unlock! )

if your still on the fence, just wait for a used copy. I can see how younger gamers ( the Halo, ADD, quick fix generation ) will probably trade this game in quickly for something a little more flashy.

here's a video review from 1up.com to give a taste of whats in the box.

Assasins Creed 2 : gameplay footage

The first Assassins Creed game was a blast to play, there was something about sneaking up and stabbing poor unsuspecting people that really made me feel warm and fuzzy inside.

As always there were a couple of silly gameplay "flaws" for lack of a better term that made no sense for me, Like Altair not being able to swim ( he's a freaking assassin, swimming should be a mandatory class in assassin school ) and the pick pocket missions ( just kill the fucker and take whatever you're after, your an Assassin! )

Now Assassin Creed 2 looks to seriously improve on the originals formula, weapons, locals. I'll reserve my final seal of approval after I play the demo ( unless Ubisoft Montreal wants to send me a demo now accompanied by producer Jade Raymond, I would be more than happy to give it to her..I mean it a review)

BlazBlue: Calamity Trigger Revisited

Lately been neglecting my fighting games.

One in particular that I've been meaning to get back to is BlazBlue an obscure hot little fighter with HD graphics and a sick combo system that rivals the Marvel Vs Capcom series by Arcsystems works, the same people that brought you the now classic Guilty Gear series.

If you're a fighting game freak like myself, this is definitely one to add to the collection.

Here's a combo video of the V-13, A character I'm comfortable using against people online.

Bon apetite

STREET FIGHTER 4: REVIEW

STREET FIGHTER 4 has become my new gaming obsession, while it may not be as technically complex as SF 3: 3rd Strike, the gameplay is still way above any other next gen fighter.

It's basic gameplay schematic is simple enough for a novice to jump in and hold his own against a more experienced player, but rich with super moves, ultra moves , combos and counters to keep a veteran like myself busy for weeks at a time with each character.

The netcode on the PS3 version ( the only one I've tried ...for now ) is superb, even with a "red" connection I experienced little or no lag. Also hats off to Capcom for having a setting that allows an online challenger to interrupt the arcade mode to come in and challenge you ( just like an old school SF2 machine, the best way to test your skills is fighting strangers )

my review, if you like fighting games ( especially the street fighter series ) this is a MUST BUY. I just advise anyone who plans to challenge people online to invest in a decent arcade stick.

9.5 out of 10

BONUS:

here's a nice video with some Ultra moves from the game, enjoy.

BATMAN ARKHAM ASYLUM

This is beginning to look like a Batman game I might actually buy. Based on the Batman universe we know and love from the comics, it takes place in Gotham's famous nut house who's residents are a who's who of the caped crusaders rogues.

The game play looks to be part open world exploration inside the asylum and part stealth action, think die hard only in a looney bin filled with villains that he put in their ready to do the old batsy in.

Plus they've signed Kevin Conroy ( the voice actor for Batman from T.A.S ) and Mark Hamill as the Joker ( also reprising the roll he mad famous in T.A.S )

here's a clip, enjoy:

Who your gonna call......?

The on again , off again , on again saga that is the ghostbusters game is back, this time with a face lift. The design team went with a less photo realistic art style for the characters ( looks better, less creepy)

Something else to note, the in game story was penned by Harold Ramis and Dan Aykroyd and is voice by Aykroyd, Ramis, Bill Murray and Ernie Hudson.

Check out the trailer below, the game drops june 2009.

STREET FIGHTER 4: AKUMA BEWARE

For many years, many Street Fighter players have used AKUMA as a crutch character ( cough** Rafe***cough) after getting the snot beaten out of them by me, the Mighty AKUMA would be the avatar of choice by my cheesy opponents to exact vengeance on little ole me.

I never liked using Akuma in any of the street fighters, I always felt that we needed another character to Balance the scales..

..enter Gouken!

"ROADS, WHERE WE'RE GOING, WE DON'T NEED ROADS."

Probably the greatest racing game add on to ever be released!

I'll bet that the Calvery Bootlegger announced with this pack is a GENERAL LEE tribute
the Mahattan spirit ( Christine?) & the Nighthawk GT ( K.I.T.T.? )

I think those a pretty good guesses for a famous vehicle tribute pack.

here's the original article for kotaku.com

Criterion continues to deliver the Burnout Paradise goodness, this time with a preview of a very special vehicle coming next year as part of their new Legendary Cars series. The Jansen 88 Special is modeled after the Jansen P12, but it's received a few modifications. Once you fill up the boost gauge, trigger it and the car leaves a trail of dual flames behind it, much like a certain modified DeLorean DMC-12 does when you reach 88 miles per hour in it.

Sweet, but that's not all. Hit the jump to see what happens when you hit the L3 button.

That's right. This motherf***er hovers.

The Jansen 88 Special is the first of four Legendary Cars being introduced to the series as next year, along with the Cavalry Bootlegger, Manhattan Spirit and the GT Nighthawk. Each car will be available for purchase separately, or as part of a discounted pack of four.

Generally I am not a big fan of purchasing extra vehicles, but when said extra vehicle can possibly break the space time continuum I take exception.

MARVEL vs CAPCOM 2: MAY BE COMING SOON FOR THE PS3 & 360 WITH ONLINE PLAY!

Here's what I just read over at 1up.com :

According to a new listing on the Entertainment Software Ratings Board's website (via NeoGAF), it appears Capcom's classic crossover fighting game Marvel vs. Capcom 2 is heading to the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3, more than likely as a digital download over Xbox Live Arcade and the PlayStation Network.

As usual, the mere appearance of a rating doesn't technically constitute as an official confirmation, but there's a bit more evidence backing this up. A couple of NeoGAF posters also relayed images of what sure seems to be Marvel vs. Capcom 2 listed on PartnerNet, Microsoft's closed version of Xbox Live used by developers to test unreleased games online. Not only does this seem to further confirm the existence of MvC2 for the 360 and PS3, but even better, it suggests it will indeed have online play.

But it does leave one to wonder -- if the game is already being tested online, and if it already has an ESRB rating, why wasn't this announced at Tokyo Game Show last week? Regardless, if (when?) we get an official confirmation, we'll let you know.

Keep your fingers crossed.

RESIDENT EVIL 5 : NEW TRAILER

Another great looking game from the folks at CAPCOM, This trailer give you a better feel for the story. Features more of CHRIS REDFIELD (our main Hero in this game and From RE:1 and RE: code veronica) his new Partner ( I think her name is Siva, new to the series ) and the return of a major villian who went missing a few games ago, STARRS turncoat and T-VIRUS carrier the shady ALBERT WESKER!

all this and Co-OP gameplay!!

SWEET!

enjoy this 21 and over trailer
