AVATAR IN 3D : SPOILER FREE REVIEW.

By Grandaiza

First off for all you bootleggers and Torrent movie downloaders - your days are numbered. Sure you'll be able to see the movie on a 24" screen, but to truly appreciate this film and hopefully other films like it, you'll have to go to the movies and see it as it was meant to be seen...in 3D.

Now I didn't see it in IMAX 3D ( just digital 3D ) and that's just fine cause the movie rocked!

The 3D effect didn't feel force, which surprised the hell out of me. No finger pointing at the screen for an uncomfortable amount of time. No bullets or arrows held out towards the audience for no real reason, just an organic effect of being there, well done James.

I won't go into the plot for those who've been living under a rock, I'll respect your right to go into the theater "fresh". I'll just say this, some themes are eternal and this like any other great Sci-Fi movie is about the heroes journey.

That's all your getting out of me, I think the trailers give away too much, avoid seeing anything on cable or online about this movie cause it just won't do it justice and see it in 3D NOW!

With your wife and kids!

in 3D!

Then go again with the fellas!

in IMAX 3D!

STREET FIGHTING AT IT'S FINEST

Here's another clip, this time we're looking at A Street Fighter 3: 3rd Strike clip from a tourney in Japan from this year.

Again another instance of someone playing with a " slow" character dominating in a pressure situation.

The kid playing with "Q" pulls off one of the best comebacks I've ever seen.

Enjoy.

MY FAVORITE FIGHTING GAME MATCHES OF 2009

I love fights were people use unorthodox characters well in competitive pressure situations.

I've never really considered Mr. Edmond Honda threat, but after watching this match

I may start practicing more with him.

Our first entry comes to us from Japan.

SF4: Fujisawa (Guile) vs Akimo (Honda)

[at TRF Tournament @ Nakano - Tokyo 12-06-2009]

Awesome use of E. Honda vs Guile, with very interesting results.

ROBOT LOOT PART 2 : ZETA GUNDAM 1/100 MG MSN-00100 HYAKU-SHIKI

Sorry I'm no Ansel Adams.

I tried taking pics of the finished product with and without flash under several lighting conditions and that damn metallic gold finish reflects too much obscuring the figure.

oh well...

Considering the rush job I did I think it looks pretty good.
I didn't place any decals on the gold portions,
( except for the SHIKI character on the shoulders )
I wanted to keep as much of the nice finished metallic color as possible.

I'll try to sharpen my photog skills by the time I finish building the next kit.

ROBOT LOOT PART 1 : ZETA GUNDAM 1/100 MG MSN-00100 HYAKU-SHIKI

Have yourself a nerdy little Christmas....

Here's the pic from the box, I hope mine looks as good.

Got this Bad boy along with the Metallic finish Zeta Gundam ( more on that one when I get to it ) I started building the Shiki soon after I finished placing my 3 year olds gift under the Tree at around 10:00 PM last night.

Six hours later I learn Two things :

  1. They give Star Trek: The Next Generation on WPIX 11 at 03:00 AM
  2. And that I wasn't going to finish this model in one sitting.
For me it's time well spent since I'm a robot fiend. every section has panels and joints for a wide range of motion.

( the feet alone are comprised of over 20 parts a piece! )

The Shiki stands at about 10 Inches From Boosters to feet and although I no longer have the paint sets and putty kits from my modeling days, I think it's looking rather nice.

I'll post some pics and review the finished model in a few days.

MERRY CHRISTMAS BOYOS.

Thank you Kay and Merry Christmas wherever you are....

PS3: DEMON SOUL - HINTS ON LEVELING UP.

PSN gamertag: Grandaiza

From now until the 28th World Tenancies are White in Demon soul. Now what does this mean exactly for you the player? New areas are open, enemies are slightly weaker and are less likely do dole out a special attack ( plague, Bleeding, etc...)

This is the perfect time to slowing pick apart a level that's been giving you a hard time and get those souls.

But be warned, don't get cocky this is still one of the most unforgiving RPG's to ever grace a gaming console. use this time wisely. If you've amassed a small fortune in souls and are faced with a fogged gateway after you've cleared a level, double back and cash in those souls for attributes, spells, weapon upgrades and repairs.

Once you go through the fog and the demon kills you your soul is stuck in the demons lair and with no improvement in your character, your likely to get killed again and again trying to recover those souls you should have cashed in at the nexus with that weird blind goth chick.

The Level "Lair of the Shadowmen" gives you about 600+ souls per enemy with a good weapon you should be able to cull about 10,000+ souls per run through. Get to the fogged archway and then double back and cash in.

I know it sounds cheesy but hey, the game is hard and it's not going to get any easier than it is right now ( until Dec. 28th ) take advantage and get your character up to par while you can.

One another note:

I encountered my first black Phantom ( another player who chose to manifest in my world and challenge me ) the guy way bright red and had a giant flaming Claymore that dealt an insane amount of damage. The only advantage that I had was that my characters burden was light and I was apparently much quicker than he was so I was able to side step his attacks and kill him for a whopping 3000 souls.

IRONMAN 2 TRAILER : ARMOR OBSERVATIONS

Any possible spoilers are in white, highlight at your own risk.

I noticed a couple of things while watching the trailer that I thought I might share. First off The Idea of Whiplash as the sole villain in the movie was kind of putting me off, I was hoping for a an appearance of Titanium man or the Crimson Dynamo ( If my website didn't give you a clue I'm a Big metal robot junkie ) or anyone who could give Iron-man and War Machine a run for their money.

We'll color me giddy it looks like Mr. Favreau came through. Check the background in the image below you'll see "Tony" and "James" surrounded by at least Four armored antagonists. ( why would they flip up the visors when they're surrounded? )

Also I'm guesting that the Mark III armor from the first movie gets trashed somewhere through the second film cause that suit that "Tony" rocking is new. ( more on that below )

Just a gratuitous image of the boys handling their business.

Here's a closer look at the new armor, The first thing that strikes me is the triangular uni-beam / Arc reactor on Iron man in keeping with Adi Granov's extremis armor design.

I also like the subtle change on the legs, no more red chaps over gold legs. The new look keeps it closer to the source material.

War Machine looks bad ass!

Now back to our armored nemeses in the trailer, they look like Stark designed suits ( Looks liked black Widow boinks Stark and makes off with the suit plans....or is it Justin Hammer who steels the specs while modifying the Mark II for James Rhodes and then builds himself a little army? we'll have to wait and see.) A lot of speculation is going around online as to who these guys are, and if you read any IRONMAN or AVENGERS during the 80's we might be thinking along the same lines.

I think They're GUARDSMAN.

Here's a clearer look at the toy mock ups for the unnamed Villains.

In the comics, the Guardsman armor in the comics was developed by the US military using stolen Ironman technology to apprehend and then guard incarcerated superhumans.

Stark found out that the the was stolen and defeated then destroyed the whole lot of them during the First armor war ( he also did away with the plans )
That's it on the armors now let's check out some high beams shall we?

Exelsior!

THE OFFICIAL IRONMAN 2 TRAILER GOES LIVE

Here it is, You've probably seen the bootleg trailer from Comic con circulating
around for a while.

Still this one has some new footage:

  • Cool scene with Tony Stark dropping in on the Stark Expo.
  • And nice little scene with Iron-man and War Machine taking on some armored enemies.

Looks hot! Makes me forget about Scarlett Johansson as the Black Widow.

STAR WARS THE FORCE UNLEASHED 2 TEASER

The announcement of a equal to the best star wars action-adventure game ever made gets me all coco with anticipation.

Here's a wish list of things I hope to see in the force unleashed 2:

  • Dual Lightsaber use ( I think that's a given considering it's in the trailer )
  • A Degobah level with Yoda as an adversary and then a mentor.
  • Mara Jade,Vaders apprentice vs. the Emperors apprentice.
  • fighting Scout troopers on Speeder bikes.
  • A Cloud City level with Lando Calrissian!
  • Jedi Mind Tricks!!
As long as they don't eff up the gameplay I'll be more than eager to get Force Unleashed 2.

Here's the trailer

NETFLIX INSTANT REVIEWS: STAR TREK SEASON 1

With Netflix now streaming on 2 out of 3 major consoles, I wanted to share some of my favorite movies, anime series and TV shows available for instant steaming on the service right now.

Star Trek Season 1 in HD is worth checking out. The episodes have never looked better, updated special effects that blend in seamlessly to the original footage and Ricardo Montalban as Khan in Space Seed!

KHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAN!

Even if you've been in a cave for the last 40 years or are to young to remember the original series and enjoyed the J.J. Abrams movie, give the original that inspired it all a shot.

BATMAN IFFY DESIGN.

I'm normally a fan of Gary Franks art (especially his work on Superman) but for some reason I'm not feeling his Batman costume design.

It just "meh". It looks like he took all the elements I hate from the live action batman costumes and incorporated it into this suit.

But that's just my opinion, any thoughts?

BAYONETTA DEMO (PS3) IMPRESSION

By GRANDAIZA

Bayonetta is a stylized multi-platform action game from Sega and the creators of the original Devil may cry that has gotten a lot of fan fair since it's initial announcement about a year ago.

I've been reading a lot of articles regarding Sega's decision to sub contract the PS3 version to a 3rd party developer and the negative effect that the choice had on the final product, so I eagerly downloaded the demo (1.4gb!) to see what to expect. ( as I write this, i've learned that Sony is working with Sega to correct some of these issues by the time the game is released )

Character and level designs are top notch, Beyonetta is able to dispatch enemies with a multitude of combos and weapons that are intuitive, pleasant to look at and fun. The enemies that I faced look like demons disguised as angels, if you evade their attacks at the last minute your rewarded with her patented "witchtime" that speeds you up and slows your enemies down.

I thankfully didn't experience any gameplay slow down at any time. The only issue that I had and mind you this is a demo of a work in progress so I hope that they're working on this problem is the camera, it focuses on your character rather than where the enemies are, which can be very frustrating when your in the heat of battle. To their defense the developers did include a camera reset on the R3 button but it's a nagging little problem that I hope is fixed before lauch.

Overall, A fun sampling that merits a download if you have the HD space.

here's a video of the demo for you.

enjoy.
